The Boys & Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster (BGCFL) is dedicated to inspiring and enabling all young people, especially those most in need, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. Serving youth ages 8-18, the Club offers a safe and supportive environment with a strong focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM). Their programming extends to health, nutrition, community service, and entrepreneurship, alongside traditional recreation and sports. BGCFL provides daily access to activities across five core program areas: Health and Life Skills, The Arts, Education & Career Development, Sports, Fitness & Recreation, and Character & Leadership Development. The after-school program, which runs from early September to mid-June, offers homework assistance, tutoring, and hands-on STEAM activities designed to reinforce school learning and foster creativity and positive self-identity. The organization also runs specific programs like "SMART Moves" to prevent substance abuse and early sexual involvement, and offers a snack program and community science workshops. BGCFL emphasizes instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging, and power/influence in its members, aiming to develop educated, healthy, and moral adults.
