About the Class
This workshop will encourage students to reinvent their representational paintings through the use of words as textural backgrounds, providing a deeper meaning. By intertwining words with watercolor, students will go beyond the traditional approach to watercolor moving into something inspiring – something personal. Students will expand on their current levels of understanding to create strong compositions, strengthen their knowledge of principals and elements of design, and experiment with mixed media techniques. Students will explore concepts of lost and found edges, creating strong compositions with dramatic value, and how to tell their own unique story. There will be experimentation with collage, surface texture and more. Each student will learn to recognize their muse – their artistic voice – chasing wonder along the way.
