John Moran Auctioneers launches its summer season with a two-day Art of the American West sale on June 30 and July 1, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM PDT. Featuring more than 430 lots, Day 1 showcases an exceptional range of historic and contemporary Western fine and decorative art, including works by Oscar Howe, Eanger Irving Couse, Kathryn Woodman Leighton, Curt Walters, Gunnar Widforss, Arion Putman, Patricia Dobson, David Wright, James Swinnerton, and Boyd Elder.
Highlights also include Western bronzes by Charles Marion Russell, Glenna Goodacre, Fritz White, Sid Burns, and Dan Namingham, alongside a Charles Rohlfs Arts and Crafts side table, a Duffner & Kimberly Art Nouveau slag glass lamp, textiles, and fetish carvings. The sale features selections from the collection of Owens Valley collector Robert Schaefer (1942–2024), including Native American basketry, Pueblo pottery, and Southwest Native American jewelry, with additional jewelry offerings continuing into Day 2.
Day 2 is online-only, with over 300 lots of Southwest jewelry featuring notable makers such as Ann Sheyka, Federico Jimenez, Mark Chee, Herman Vandever, Larry Moses, Bennie Ration, and Dennis and Nancy Edaakie.
