The Ouachita Parish Public Library (OPPL) is a public library system serving Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. Its mission is to advance literacy, inspire lifelong learning, and strengthen the community by serving everyone in the parish. Founded in 1916, OPPL has grown from a single room with 731 books to become one of Louisiana's largest library systems, now operating ten branches and a bookmobile. The library circulates over one million items annually. OPPL provides a wide range of resources, including books, media, educational materials, and internet access. Patrons can obtain a library card to access online databases, downloadable eBooks, and eServices. The library also offers services like live online tutoring, computer classes, and a book sale through the Friends of the Ouachita Public Library. Interlibrary loan (ILL) services are available for eligible patrons to borrow materials from other libraries. The library is governed by a Library Board of Control appointed by the Ouachita Parish Police Jury.
