Artistic Improv: A ‘Yes and’ Approachwith Winnie van der Rijn2 day workshop • Friday and Saturday, August 22 23, 10 am – 4 pm at Textile CenterJoin us in welcoming Winnie van der Rijn to Textile Center for a special Guest Teaching Artist workshop. Utilizing a variety of mixed media applications, Winnie will guide participants in an expansive and improvisational approach to artmaking. Discuss and learn exercises of design opportunity, iteration, collaboration, deconstruction, artistic decision making and skill sharing. Participants in the workshop are encouraged to utilize their existing artistic skills — whether weaving, knitting, printing, sewing, painting, collaging, dyeing, etc. — and to bring a variety of different materials from home to use in a collaborative fashion on the creation of new work. The project and process for the workshop will be guided by the materials and skills that everyone brings to the table.
