See What Love Can Do is a six-piece Bay Area band rooted in the Jerry Garcia Band repertoire of thegolden era — 1985 to 1995. Founded by JayWilcox, guitarist/vocalist who has been playing the musicof the Grateful Dead and JGB since 1989, the band is built around a simple but powerful idea: hold trueto theWest Coast spirit while surrounding that music with the very best musicians the Bay Area has to offer.
The lineup for the August 6th show at Sweetwater Music Hall includes Lionel Dewitt Holoman Jr., IsaChu, Maria Long, JPMcLean, and Jerry Saracini — bringing something Garcia himself always soughtout: real gospel soul. Three members come from gospel backgrounds, two as alumni of the OaklandInterfaith Gospel Choir. Their voices don’t just sing the songs — they lift them.It’s the gospel roots that give the material its weight, its warmth, its heart and soul.
