72nd Annual Beef Cattle Short Course

The 72nd annual Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short Course is slated for Aug. 3-5 at Rudder Tower on the Texas A&M University campus. Both in-person and virtual attendance are offered. The cost is $300 for in-person attendance, $99 for virtual registration for Aug. 3-4 only, and $150 for youth. A $40 fee will be charged for late registration after July 28. Hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Department of Animal Science, the event is one of the longest-running and largest beef cattle educational events of its kind in the world Cattle market trends, herd rebuilding, weather outlook, New World screwworm, pasture mealy bug and the U. S. farm bill will all be hot topics discussed throughout the program, as well as other emerging issues. Producers are offered more than 50 hours of training on basic ranching practices, new technologies and trending topics in beef cattle production during Cattleman’s College. Cattleman’s College features over 20 concurrent sessions and live-animal and chute-side demonstrations. At least nine Texas Department of Agriculture pesticide continuing education units will be offered during the sessions.
