Songwriters in the Round presented by Jud Caswell

Details:

Our four artists will be Nat Hussey, Bill Gawley, Maik Bo, and Jud Caswell. These four friends first performed together in the round in the late 1990s, and have enjoy every opportunity for musical reunions!
Maik Bo has always been passionate about songwriting, drawing inspiration from artists like John Denver, the Eagles, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Bruce Cockburn, and Nirvana. The Beatles have been a significant influence, showing him how songs can be both playful and profound. From his first one-chord song in sixth grade to his recent blues-influenced pieces, Maik explores a range of emotions and musical styles, including intimate ballads and uplifting sing-alongs. On stage, he captivates audiences with expressive vocals and a joyful presence. As a seasoned traveler and English teacher, Maik has lived in various countries, which has deepened his belief in music’s power to connect through shared experiences like love and nature. His voice, ranging from warm to powerful, invites listeners to find their own memories in his songs.
Bill Gawley’s performances resemble conversations with an old friend, blending folk, rock, blues, country, and Americana with storytelling and humor. His strong vocals, guitar, and harmonica draw from influences like Jim Croce and James Taylor. Bill performed throughout the 1980s with the duo Crimson Sky on Cape Cod and as a solo act in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In 1993, he moved to Brooksville, Maine, for a job at Acadia National Park, which inspired his first album, “Renovation Man and Other Alter Egos,” in 1998. Living in Brooksville and traveling to national parks fueled his songwriting, leading to a second CD, “Best Kept Secret,” in 2003. While his job at Acadia reduced club performances, Bill focused on making music near home. After retiring in 2024, he released his third album, “Are We There Yet?”, in June 2025. Now in southern Rhode Island, he’s setting up a new studio and getting back into performing in New England.
Nat Hussey's eclectic original funky blues, folk and rock material comes from Maine's unique places and characters - old cars, hard weather, haunted beaches, lonesome roads, crowded bars, love, loss and redemption on the open ocean. Nat is a lobsterman, lawyer, singer/songwriter and frontman of the Mighty Nat Hussey Band, splitting his time between his home on Matinicus Island and Bristol.
Jud Caswell is an award-winning songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has been performing in his native state of Maine and beyond for more than 25 years. In 2006 he made a splash on the national scene, winning the legendary Kerrville New Folk competition. He’s had his songs taught at Berklee, recorded by Judy Collins, and named “#4 Song of the Decade” by New York’s WFUV. His record “Live at the Seagull Shop” was the number 1 album on the Folk Alliance International radio charts in March of 2020. Jud is currently releasing a series of albums of music that he recorded during the early months of the pandemic.
