Details:
We are delighted to bring Sheryl Faye's multi-media, one-woman show Abigail Adams: Liberty & Legacy to Merrimack to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Wife and closest advisor of President John Adams, the second president of the United States, and the mother of John Quincy Adams, the sixth president of the United States, Abigail Adams' life is one of the most documented of the first ladies because of the collection of correspondence Adams wrote during her lifetime.
Adams was a founder of the United States, and, when her husband was elected president, she took an active role in politics and policy. Adams was so politically active that her political opponents came to refer to her as Mrs. President. She was an advocate of married women's property rights and more opportunities for women, particularly in the field of education. She gave birth to six children and took responsibility for the family's financial matters and investments. She is buried in the family crypt in the United First Parish Church in Quincy, MA.
Videotaping this performance is not allowed.
This show is 45 minutes.
This program is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Merrimack Public Library.
