Children's Summer Reading Programs and Story Walk

Join the fun! Where else can you earn an ice cream, a pizza or a Dunks card just for reading? These free children's summer reading programs are made possible by the good folks at MVSB and other thoughtful sponsors.

Depending upon your age and interest, we have an offering just for you:

This year’s state library theme is “Plant A Seed, Read!”, so we’ve got a themed story walk featuring “The Bad Seed Goes to the Library” for young and old to enjoy. Follow this cranky character as he realizes he has to return the library books he’s borrowed! The story walk is located in Dr. Morrill Memorial Park, adjacent to the library. The story walk starts closest to the library and then wraps at the Chase Circle parking lot.  Once finished with this hilarious story, participants are urged to visit the library for some fun surprises, including: a Read it and Eat ice cream cone coupon from Ben & Jerry’s in Meredith, free tie-dye socks from The Edge Handcrafted Boutique in Center Harbor, and movie tickets to Smitty’s Cinema in Tilton. Hurry on over while supplies last.

Next up, children up to age 12 can participate in the Swap Pages for Pizza program. They can earn a free pizza just for reading (or being read to) ten books. Stop in for an official book log today! Pizza gift cards will be awarded in early September.

Lastly, we’re offering a free Dunks card for our teen readers aged 13-18. Students in middle school or high school who visit and check out books three times over the summer are rewarded for their efforts with a free $10. Dunkin card. Limit one Dunkin card per student.
