Details:
Join the Greenway for a hands-on Squak Valley Restoration and Plant Walk at Squak Valley Park in Issaquah. This event, open to all ages, invites participants to restore native plant habitats along Issaquah Creek, aiding in salmon habitat recovery and supporting native vegetation growth. The day begins with a guided plant walk by our restoration crew, focusing on the importance of native plants and identifying edible species. Volunteers will also help clear invasive species around newly planted trees and shrubs to enhance their chances of survival. Participants should wear long pants and sturdy, close-toed shoes, and are encouraged to bring warm layers, rain gear, snacks, and water. The park, located between Squak and Tiger Mountain, comprises 11 undeveloped acres that act as a crucial wildlife corridor. Directions to the park are available via a provided Google link, with the recommended parking at the South lot. Please arrive on time to walk to the site together and make a positive impact on this vital ecosystem.
