Details:
The Trailhead Ambassador Program offers opportunities to volunteer at two key locations: Rachel Lake and Tucquala Meadows. As a Trailhead Ambassador, you’ll play a crucial role in educating visitors on responsible recreation and Leave-No-Trace principles, helping to protect public lands for future generations. Volunteers will work alongside Greenway Staff to welcome visitors, answer questions, and provide essential information. No prior experience is necessary, but completion of a short online training is required for registration.
For the Rachel Lake Trailhead, be prepared for a non-strenuous day (18+) by bringing water, lunch, snacks, extra layers, and sunscreen. The access road is washboarded with minor potholes, suitable for most vehicles. Directions include taking Exit 62 off I-90 west of Cle Elum and following the paved road to the trailhead parking, which is located approximately 5 miles up Box Canyon Creek.
For Tucquala Meadows, the trailhead features a longer gravel road with extensive potholes and a stream crossing that may require high clearance vehicles, especially in early season. Again, please prepare for a non-strenuous outing (18+), bringing similar supplies as for Rachel Lake. The route involves traveling north on Highway 903 from Cle Elum, veering right onto Forest Road 4330, and continuing 11 miles to the trailhead, noting that parking is limited and may require additional walking.
