Details:
Join us for a unique outdoor experience that combines education and adventure in the beautiful Teanaway Community Forest. As a Trailhead Ambassador, you’ll help protect public lands by educating visitors about responsible recreation and Leave-No-Trace principles at the Pete Lake Trailhead. No prior experience is necessary; just be ready to welcome visitors, answer questions, and share your passion for nature.
After your ambassador duties, deepen your understanding of the local geology on a guided hike to Cheese Rock led by Central Washington University professor Karl Lillquist. This short 2.5-mile round trip hike will showcase the geological evolution of the Teanaway area, including its vibrant past as a jungle and diverse geological formations.
The event takes place on August 8, 2026, from 9 AM to 11 AM at the West Fork Teanaway Trailhead. Please prepare for moderate elevation gain and bring water, snacks, and your Discover Pass for parking. Sign up now for both opportunities to enhance your outdoor skills while enjoying the natural beauty of the Upper Yakima Basin! For more information and to register, visit the Trailhead Ambassador Program webpage or email august.spires@mtsgreenway.org. Prepare for an enriching day in nature!
