Details:
The Newtown Public Library is thrilled to welcome folks from WHYY's Bridging Blocks series for a community dialogue at the library. Bridging Blocks is a series of neighborhood discussions aimed at bringing together culturally and politically diverse households for civic dialogue and understanding.
This discussion's topic is: Does Voting Matter? Voting is a civil right. For many people, it's a civic duty. Elections give Americans the power to choose who represents them and influence policies that affect their families and communities. Why is voter apathy so widespread? Should we educate others who choose not to participate? Is there adequate civics education in our schools? Should the government play a role in raising awareness of the impact of voting?
