The American Civil War Museum

The American Civil War Museum (ACWM) is dedicated to exploring and promoting the public's understanding of the Civil War's causes, course, and consequences. It operates three distinct sites: the American Civil War Museum at Historic Tredegar, the White House of the Confederacy in Richmond, Virginia, and the American Civil War Museum at Appomattox. The museum's mission is to be a premier center for examining the Civil War and its legacies from multiple perspectives, including Union and Confederate, enslaved and free African Americans, soldiers, and civilians. ACWM offers immersive exhibitions, a significant collection of artifacts and documents, tours, educational programs, lectures, and virtual experiences to provide a comprehensive and equitable understanding of this critical period in American history. The museum aims to preserve the past and inspire future generations by making Civil War history accessible and relevant today.
