Come mend and connect in community. Bring your clothing or textile items and give them new life through visible mendingwhererepairs are seen and celebrated. Learn alongside Alison Davis-Holland and a friendly team of Mend-tors from Art on the Mend, and enjoy meeting new people along the way. We provide all mending supplies. Just bring your clean clothing or textile items with holes,stains, or worn spots; or practice on our reclaimed textiles. Although we have topics we are learning on specific dates, feel free to bring any of your mending projects just to mend in community. Allof our visible mending is handwork - not with sewing machines. July 7 - Open Lab- Bring any clothing or textile items and our Mend-tors will help you get started on your hands-on visible mending using our materials and supplies. July 14 - Knit Repair - Learn common damage in knits and how to mend them with techniques such as needle felting, seed stitch, and Scotch darning. Bring a sweater or any other knitted yarn item. July 21 - Open Lab - Bring any clothing or textile items and our Mend-tors will help you get started on your hands-on visible mending using our materials and supplies. July 28 - Visible Mending 101 - Learn about helpful supplies for creating your own mending kit and make a Japanese sashiko palm thimble. Bring a tin to store your new mending supplies: a Sashiko needle and thread, a threading tool, and a rubber grip. No experience needed. Ages 14+ recommended because we will be handling sharp needles. REGISTRATION RECOMMENDED. By registering, you will receive event updates. First-come, first-served seating.
