Jazz Showcase

Join us for the Jazz Showcase, hosted by Dr. Bill Bares, a distinguished pianist, composer, and educator with a Ph.D. in ethnomusicology from Harvard. Dr. Bares has an extensive teaching background at prestigious institutions including Harvard and Berklee College of Music and currently serves as a professor and co-director of jazz studies at UNC Asheville. This year's event features renowned jazz violinist Michael Jefry Stevens alongside the Creative Strings Orchestra, a highlight of the annual Creative Strings Workshop & Festival held in Black Mountain, NC. From June 22 to July 3, the festival brings together world-class string musicians led by Christian Howes for two weeks of collaborative music-making, education, and creative workshops. The Creative Strings Showcase will present more than 20 talented musicians performing both solo and ensemble works, celebrating innovation, artistry, and community engagement. Supported in part by the North Carolina Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, this event promises an inspiring evening of music and creativity.
