Atlanta's Original Uptown Comedy Corner
800 Marietta St NW, Atlanta, GA 30318, USA
Atlanta's Original Uptown Comedy Corner has been a prominent venue for live urban comedy in Atlanta and the United States for over 30 years. It has hosted numerous well-known comedians, including Dick Gregory, Chris Rock, Kevin Hart, Damon Wayans, Chris Tucker, Paul Mooney, Dave Chappelle, Earthquake, Bruce Bruce, Mo'Nique, Mike Epps, Steve Harvey, and Ricky Smiley, many of whom continue to return. The club is known for its intimate, up-close comedy experience, offering a quality show with food and drinks. It has also been a place where celebrities like Cedric the Entertainer, Usher, Snoop Dogg, and T.I. have made surprise appearances. Uptown Comedy Corner has accommodated various group functions, from small parties to large events, offering VIP seating and catering packages. Despite its long history and cultural significance, particularly within the African American comedy scene, the club has faced challenges due to increased competition from newer venues and changing industry dynamics, leading to its eventual closure in Hapeville in July 2025. The venue's history includes multiple relocations and a legacy of nurturing both established and emerging comedic talent.
