Acrylic Painting: Simple Sunflowers

Sunflowers are one of the joys of late summer, bringing bright color and cheerful blooms to gardens and fields throughout August. In this two-part class, participants will learn the basics of acrylic painting and have fun exploring a simple approach to painting two small sunflower "portraits".
In the first session on Monday, August 3, participants will get started with simple warm-up exercises as we practice how to hold the brush, use the paint, and mix our colors. We'll also learn how to draw or transfer sunflower images onto our canvas boards (no drawing experience needed!) and begin adding the first layers of vibrant color.
In the second session on Monday, August 10, participants will continue building layers of paint and complete their sunflower paintings with final details and highlights. Participants will complete two sunflower paintings measuring 6" x 6" and 5" x 5", suitable for framing, displaying propped up as is, or on a small easel.

She is also a professional artist, holds a BFA degree with concentrations in drawing, painting, and art history, and has worked for many years as a pottery and painting instructor.
