REGISTRATION NOW OPEN! The Avalon Film Festival is a new annual event, now including SCAREFEST, bringing independent filmmakers and their films into the spotlight. We are looking for all types of film creators, from beginners to experienced, to take on our 52-hour challenge. Guidelines: • All participants must attend the filmmaker meeting Friday, September 19, 2025 6:00 PM - 7:00PM at The Avalon Theatre (121 S. Main Street, Marysville, OH 43040) • All teams will have 52 hours to write, film, and edit a 6-8 minute film. [Friday, September 19 @ 7pm - Sunday, September 21 @ 10pm] • All films must adhere to the HORROR genre • All films must include festival chosen prop, line, and character. [announced at Filmmaker Meeting] •No Nudity •Must have releases for all performers, background & locations. (General Release Template will also soon be on The Avalon Theatre Film Series webpage) •No copyrighted material may be used •No car chases, no use of guns [When in doubt, remember that these will be screened for the public. Aim for 1992 PG-13, or major TV network before 8PM.] •All films MUST be submitted by 10pm on Sunday, September 21, 2025 via provided Google drive link. $25 registration fee per team form.jotform.com/251775109522154 Once submitted, your work will be judged by a panel of experts in the film industry, then shown on the big screen at The Avalon Theatre in Historic Uptown Marysville, on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 12pm. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top filmmakers. Only one member of each team needs to apply.
