Details:
Join us for a creative and eco-friendly workshop, "Crochet an Upcycled Origami Bag," where you'll learn to transform old clothing, sheets, towels, or plastic bags into a stylish crocheted bag. In this beginner-friendly class, you'll start by making “yarn” from repurposed materials to crochet your unique origami bag. Participants are encouraged to bring at least three plastic grocery bags, old t-shirts, or towels, while 8mm crochet hooks will be provided.
Led by instructor Galaxy Salo, who has extensive experience in yarn-centric arts, this workshop is a part of our Fabrics and Fibers Skill Series, offering 12 classes and 1 event aimed at expanding your textile skills. Attend any class in the series to receive a token for 10% off your next purchase at Seattle ReCreative.
For those interested in ongoing textile projects, consider joining our monthly "Community Threads @ NESTL" mending and sewing circle. Bring your sewing projects or use our supplies in a collaborative space where experienced menders will provide guidance. Gather with fellow crafters over hot tea on the second weekend of each month at designated locations.
Both events prioritize accessibility, with wheelchair access and provisions for non-English and ASL interpreters encouraged. We also strive to accommodate children in our classes; please reach out in advance for arrangements.
Join us to unleash your creativity, connect with the community, and further your textile skills!
