Details:
Most people cook meals and eat at home, and the result is food preparation scraps and leftover waste. If you get rid of uneaten food via a waste disposal unit in your sink, or put the scraps and leftovers in the trash, STOP! Here in Dane County, we are fortunate to have programs in place for individuals to dispose of their food waste, which will be transformed into compost and incorporated back in the soil, instead of taking up space in the landfill or heading to the wastewater treatment facility. Wyeth Augustine-Merceil, Sustainability + Engagement Coordinator for Dane County will provide us with details about waste diversion programs, food waste prevention, food waste composting and specific information about how to participate in Dane County’s food scrap composting program. This will be a fascinating program, one of interest to anyone who eats!Adults, Teens and Tweens are welcome. There will be free refreshments and a door prize. Eco-Action Tuesdays is sponsored by MGE AccessibilityIndividuals who require accommodation or other accessibility assistance in order to fully participate, please contact library staff one week prior to event. Media UseAll participants in library programs, events, and classes may be photographed or videotaped for library promotional purposes. Please contact library staff if you prefer to not be photographed
