The best week of your summer, every summer. What can you tell me about Houseboats? Our camps are designed to take students away from their normal routine and get them into an environment where they are given opportunities to learn and grow spiritually and relationally. Houseboats is the best place that we have found to accomplish this goal. Houseboats offers your student the chance to connect to others through activities like wake boarding, knee boarding, banana boating, swimming, playing games, talking, and much more. Students LOVE Houseboats and we know that you will love it too! What are the dates? When do you leave and come back? This year, our trip is planned for July 27 through August 1. We leave on Monday morning and return Saturday evening. What is the cost? Can I make payments? How will you get there? We will take charter buses and personal vehicles. Most (if not all) students will ride the bus. We take personal vehicles to tow a ski boat and carry supplies. Where do you stay?On a houseboat, on Lake Shasta. We sleep on the roof of the boat, under the stars. Houseboats is a camp entirely on water on Lake Shasta. What activities will my student participate in? Your student will have the opportunity to wake board, knee board, play games, swim, hang out, make new friends, worship, have personal devotional time, and get to know our awesome CHY leaders. We provide students with a devotion book for the week and we have a time of worship and teaching, nightly. What we love about Houseboats is the relaxed atmosphere that allows us ample time to connect with students and for students to connect with each other and the staff. Are meals covered in the cost?Yes and no. Your student will need money for travel meals to and from Shasta. On the boat our meals will be covered. We will stop mid-week to refuel the boat and students can shop in the mini mart for snack foods. We will also have a snack bar open daily where students can buy snack foods. What kind of screening process is there for leaders?Every leader has had a background check and has been finger printed. From there, leaders are chosen according to their God given shape. This typically means most leaders are already involved in our student ministry or are parents of students in our ministry. Houseboats can be life-changing and we are prayerfully planning the trip. We are excited to connect with your student and help them to see the ways God provides for us and guides us. Our hope for every student is that they experience God’s love, plan and purpose and that they open their life to Him in a lasting way.
