Affectionately known as “The Douglass,” this historic theater has shaped the careers of many notable African American artists and served as a cultural cornerstone in Macon since 1921.
The Douglass Theatre provides the community with year-round arts and entertainment options, featuring programs that highlight Black/African American history, women’s history, and iconic historical figures, along with arts education for young artists. It’s also a sacred place where artists, patrons, and the entire community are emboldened with a sense of connection, pride, and purpose; and a safe space to engage and share rich cultural experiences.
