Join a naturalist for a casual stroll through one of our state parks or local historic areas. Each month we’ll focus on a topic related to natural or cultural history. Wear your walking shoes and dress for the weather – we’ll go out rain, snow, or shine! Meet at the designated location. Maps will be provided upon registration. Trail conditions vary – see descriptions. Oudolf Garden on Belle Isle Park is a 3-acre garden, artistic and ecological by design, with perennials, grasses, shrubs and trees chosen for their hardiness, durability, and ever-changing textures and colors for enjoyment in all four seasons. A tour will be provided by a member of the Oudolf Garden Detroit Grounds Crew. The garden is accessible, with a concrete walkway along the edge and crushed granite and grassy paths between the beds. Parking is directly adjacent to the garden area, with bathrooms a short distance away by car. This is an outdoor event held rain or shine; please dress for the weather. Note that this is an offsite program taking place at Belle Isle Park. Preregistration is required. This is a free offsite event. A Recreation Passport is required to enter Belle Isle Park.
