Photo Scavenger Hunt

Join us for two exciting events at James River State Park! First, embark on a Photo Scavenger Hunt by stopping at the Visitor Center to receive a list of 12 items to find throughout the park. Discover its hidden gems, including plants, animals, minerals, and historic artifacts, while honing your observational skills. Show your captured photos to Visitor Center staff to claim your prize! This activity is suitable for all ages, so remember to wear appropriate clothing and bring water.

In addition, experience the wonders of the night sky with our Self-Guided Astronomy activity. As an International Dark Sky Park, James River offers a designated viewing area off Amphitheatre Road, near Shelter #4. Grab a blanket and enjoy stargazing by using a star chart from the Visitor Center or a constellation app to explore the cosmos.
