Details:
Join us for a unique outdoor adventure with "Paddle the James and Wildlife in Watercolor." This two-part experience begins with a ranger-guided canoe float down the James River, navigating approximately 2 miles from Canoe Landing to Dixon Landing. Perfect for beginners, this tour allows participants to enjoy the river’s rich history, glimpse aquatic wildlife, and learn essential paddling techniques. Each trip is distinct, promising new sights and experiences led by knowledgeable guides. Suitable for ages 6 and up (children 6-12 must be accompanied by an adult), all equipment is provided, including canoes, paddles, and personal flotation devices (PFDs), which must be worn throughout the journey. After canoeing, participants will shift to a creative mode with the "Wildlife in Watercolor" program, where you can paint vibrant landscapes inspired by the river’s beauty and its wildlife. No prior painting experience is necessary—just bring your love for nature. All materials will be supplied, and the art created can serve as a cherished memento of your adventure. Please meet at Canoe Landing for both activities. Proper attire and a water bottle are recommended, and advance registration is required with a fee of $20 per person. Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot. For more information and to register, call (434) 933-8527 or email Tess.Himelspach@dcr.virginia.gov. Join us for a day of exploration, creativity, and connection to nature!
