WHEN: Wednesday, June 17, 2026 starting at 6:00 PMWHERE: Paula Enyeart Community Building, Sandoval County Fairgrounds, 16 Rodeo Road, Cuba, NM 87013
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is hosting an in-person public meeting to discuss the US 550 Wildlife Vehicle Collision Mitigation Project: Phases 1 and 2.
The project is designed to improve safety for both drivers and wildlife by reducing wildlife-vehicle collisions and improving wildlife movement across the highway northwest of Cuba, New Mexico. Planned improvements include wildlife crossing structures, 8-ft tall game fencing, and other features that help animals safely cross US 550. The overall project is divided into four phases, with designs for Phases 1 and 2 under development now.
At the meeting, the project team will share the designs in development to receive input. Community members are encouraged to attend and learn more about the project.
