Acrylic Painting Online AGES 18+ August 4-Oct 6 5-6:30pm (10 zoom sessions) This class will be taught by Jean Weigl, and assistant instructor Leslie Bowen. The format of this class will be slightly different than past classes, but will follow the same general schedule and form. This class will address a series of considerations related to color, composition and technique, and each week, participants will produce small paintings in acrylic on paper. Options for subjects, sources and style will be discussed, while individual directions – ranging from non-objective to abstract to representational – will be open and supported. Previous experience with color theory and design may be helpful, but not required. Students will be responsible to provide materials. Having received a BA in Art from Scripps College, an MA in Studio Art from Oberlin College and an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Utah, Jean’s teaching experience includes positions at Oberlin College, the Lorain County Community College, Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA) and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Her work has been exhibited in numerous local, regional and national shows and she is the recipient of grants from the Ohio Arts Council, Zygote Gallery and Press and the Yaddo Foundation. Originally from Oakland, California, Jean currently lives and works in Oberlin FAVA reviews and considers all application for scholarship assistance. While we may not be able to provide a complete scholarship to all those who request it, we are committed to making our classes available to as many people as possible – regardless of individual financial circumstances. For this reason, it is important that all scholarship requests are received well in advance of the class starting date, so we may allocate our available funds accordingly.
