The Erie Community Library, a full-service library for all ages, opened on January 12, 2008, as part of the High Plains Library District. It offers a collection of nearly 60,000 items, focusing on popular materials in various formats like books, CDs, and DVDs. The library provides essential services such as free WiFi, daily courier service from other HPLD libraries, and access to numerous online databases. Unique features include a living room with a fireplace, two outdoor patios, four study rooms, and a community meeting room. It also has dedicated spaces for children, including a Storytime room and a children's section named after Lorraine David, and a separate area for teens. Additionally, the Erie Club Makerspace offers equipment and programming for activities like laser cutting, sewing, and 3D printing. The library hosts a wide variety of programs, classes, storytimes, and activities for families, and its staff are available for visits to schools and community organizations. The Peace Garden, with ties to children's literature, is also located at the Erie Community Library.
