She willdiscuss some of the key hieroglyphic inscriptions and themes in stories, art, and archeology of Ancient Egypt. Tale of the Shipwrecked Sailor,written during of the Middle Kingdom period of Ancient Egypt, tells the story of a sailor shipwrecked on an island during a storm while on a mission from the king. While on the island he meets and befriends a talking giant serpent. The story is one of the most famous stories having survived from the period and a prime example of Ancient Egyptian literature. About the presenter:Julia Fuchs is a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) and museum professional specializing in archaeology, cultural heritage, and public history. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Anthropology and a Master of Arts in Art History with a concentration in Cultural Heritage and Preservation Studies from Rutgers University. Julia has worked with the National Park Service in both museum and archaeological roles, contributing to collections management, interpretation, public programming, and cultural resource preservation. Her research interests include ancient Egypt, museum ethics, folklore, storytelling traditions, and the ways archaeology helps us better understand the lives and beliefs of people in the past. Passionate about making history accessible to broad audiences, Julia enjoys connecting archaeological discoveries with literature, folklore, and everyday life. When she is not working in museums or archaeological sites, she enjoys crafting (especially crochet and junk journaling) , hiking, running, reading, birdwatching, exploring historic places, and sharing stories that bring the past to life.
