Step into a whimsical, nature-inspired bellydance journey designed for beginners and those new to bellydance. This Beginner Level Bellydance Fusion class blends playful fairy-tale theatrics with graceful, accessible bellydance moves, all tailored to fit the Fairy Cottagecore aesthetic. Expect light storytelling, magical stage moments, and a dash of woodland whimsy.
What you’ll learn:
~Foundational bellydance technique (hip work, shimmies, frames, traveling steps, and transitions)
~Fusion choreography with gentle theatrical elements and playful storytelling
~Group performance dynamics, timing, and stage presence
~How to create a fairy-type character and assemble a cottagecore-inspired costume
~Theatrical cues and safe, expressive performance habits

Schedule and format:
~Weekly Classes on Mondays, 6:00–7:00 PM
~Start date: June 8
~Last Week on August 3rd: Dress rehearsal for the August 8 party show
~For all levels, with material adapted for complete beginners and Intro to Bellydance students who have been meeting on Monday nights
~Performance opportunities once we finish
The choreography will be performed at the August 8 Fairy Cottagecore event for interested students; participation is optional.
Selected students may be invited to perform with Safiya Nawaar at the Lexington Renaissance Festival on August 22–23.
PERFORMANCE Participation requires creating a fairy-type character and assembling appropriate costuming, with details discussed in class.
Theme and costume:
~Theme: Fairy Cottagecore—whimsical, nature-centric, vintage-inspired with magical elements
~Students will be guided in building a character and costume that fit the theme (costume planning to be discussed in class)
~The choreography will feature light theatrics and friendly, fun interactions between dancers/fairies

What to bring and know:
~Comfortable practice attire suitable for bellydance
~A willingness to explore character work and playful storytelling
