The Hawthorne Library, part of the Los Angeles County Library System, serves approximately 86,000 residents in the City of Hawthorne. As a component of one of the largest and most innovative library systems in the US, it provides free public resources including books, e-books, audiobooks, magazines, and online resources. The library also offers access to computers, wireless internet, and services such as photocopying and wireless printing. Additionally, it features a children's area and a study room. The Friends of the Hawthorne and Wiseburn Libraries, a volunteer organization, supports the library through book sales and other initiatives. The library system as a whole maintains a vast collection of 4.8 million volumes and circulates 14 million items annually, dedicated to reducing barriers and increasing access to public services for all residents.
