Join us for the Turkey Wing Whisk Broom Workshop led by our resident broom squire, Larry Antonuk, on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, in the historic Great Stone Dwelling dining room. Discover the rich history of Shaker broom making, which was a vital industry for the Enfield Shakers in the 19th century, producing as many as “2000 dozen” brooms each year. This workshop offers participants the chance to learn the traditional art of broom making, starting with a simple bundle whisk broom and advancing to the more intricate turkey wing whisk broom, crafted from natural broom corn. Explore the Brethren’s West Shop and see the historical equipment used by Shaker craftsmen. The workshop is limited to 8 participants, and advance registration is required. Please bring a bag lunch, closed-toe shoes, and a water bottle. Registration costs $65 for museum members and $75 for non-members, which includes all materials. All proceeds support the Enfield Shaker Museum's educational mission. For those traveling from afar, consider staying overnight in the historic dwelling.
