Step back in time at the award-winning Perth Museum, located in the heart of downtown at 11 Gore Street East. Housed in the elegant Matheson House—a National Historic Site built in 1840—this popular attraction invites you to leave the 21st century behind and experience life in early Ontario.
Originally built for the Honourable Roderick Matheson, a prominent merchant and senator in Canada’s first parliament, the stone home remained in the Matheson family for nearly 100 years. Today, four restored period rooms—the parlour, dining room, drawing room, and cozy kitchen—offer a glimpse into domestic life in the 1840s.
