The American Legion Auxiliary was founded on the following purposes: 1. Rehabilitation of Veterans 2. Children and Youth Activities 3. Serving the Local Community 4. Disaster Relief Activities 5. Peace and Security In fulfillment of our Mission, the ALA adheres to the following purposes: 1. To support and advocate for veterans, active military and their families. 2. To support the initiatives of The American Legion. 3. To foster patriotism and responsible citizenship. 4. To award scholarships and promote quality education and literacy. 5. To provide educational and leadership opportunities that uphold the ideals of freedom and democracy and encourage good citizenship and patriotism in government. 6. To increase our capacity to deliver our Mission by providing meaningful volunteer opportunities within our communities. 7. To empower our membership to achieve personal fulfillment through "service not self."
