The Lafayette Public Library's mission is to enhance the quality of life in its community by providing free and equal access to high-quality, cost-effective library services. These services aim to meet the diverse needs of the community for information, lifelong learning, recreation, and cultural enrichment. The library offers a wide array of programs, including those that support small businesses and leverage local resources. Physically, the library provides meeting and study rooms, access to computers and printers, and a collection of books, magazines, and other physical media for checkout. Patrons can also access digital resources both in-house and remotely with a library card. The library system operates multiple locations serving a significant population and circulates millions of items annually, including traditional books, large prints, magazines, audiobooks, music CDs, DVDs, and video games, with resources available in Spanish, French, and Chinese in addition to English. It also features tech labs, makerspaces, and offers wireless internet access.
