**Exhibitions at Descanso Gardens: LA's Garden and Sound of Water**
Explore the beauty and history at Descanso Gardens through two captivating exhibitions. Curated by Rosten Woo, **LA's Garden** runs from July 18 to November 29, 2026, at the Boddy House. This exhibition reveals the intertwined histories of the gardens and the people who shaped them, showcasing archival maps, documents, and vintage photographs alongside contemporary artistic perspectives. The 150 acres tell stories of human passion and resilience, from the stewardship of indigenous communities to the influence of Japanese-American nurserymen.
In parallel, **Sound of Water: Feminine Expressions of Fluidity**, curated by Meher McArthur, is open from June 20, 2026, to January 3, 2027, at the Sturt Haaga Gallery. This exhibition celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Japanese Garden and features works by six Japanese women artists who explore water's diverse moods and its significance in Japanese culture. Their artworks invite reflection on our relationship with water amid global climate challenges.
Both exhibitions include special programs, with LA’s Garden featuring curator tours and an opening reception on July 17, and Sound of Water offering a Japanese Screen Art Workshop on August 27. Entry to both galleries is included with admission or membership.
Generously funded by the Perenchio Foundation, the endowment from Heather Sturt Haaga and Paul G. Haaga, Jr., and various partners, these exhibitions provide a unique opportunity to appreciate the intersection of nature, history, and art at Descanso Gardens.
