East Tennessee History Fair

The East Tennessee Historical Society, in partnership with the Knox County Public Library, is proud to announce the return of the East Tennessee History Fair. This well-loved event will take to the streets of downtown Knoxville once more, but in a new way.
This day-long celebration will take place in and around the East Tennessee History Center in downtown Knoxville and will include regional historic/cultural organizations, living history demonstrations, live music, crafts, film screenings, children’s activities, and more!
The theme will center around our nation’s Semiquincentennial (250th) with a focus on these four pillars:
Celebrate the nation’s successes. What pivotal moments or ideas that have improved the lives of residents of the US?
Commemorate the sacrifices of those who have worked to uphold the nation’s ideals. This might be a person, a people, and/or movements.
Contemplate the consequences of our history. Some examples might be impacts of legislation, of a movement(s), historical moments, or ongoing reckonings.
Commit to advancing our democracy and preserving our shared future. What role can you, your community, do for tomorrow? What are the ideals you hold true?
These pillars will be woven throughout the event through engagement areas and educational programming materials to spark conversation, encourage reflection, and help broaden our understanding of our diverse region, ultimately bringing us all together.

Volunteers Needed!
