Details:
The theme this month is Cabernet Franc, a varietal that we have only previously featured twice, in September 2013 and October 2022. Cabernet Franc is typically found as a major component of Bordeaux wines. It is one of the top three grapes in Bordeaux reds (together with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon), and is often the second highest percentage after Cabernet Sauvignon. Interestingly Cabernet Franc is a mother grape to both Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It is also grown in the Loire region of France, Italy, Hungary, Argentina, and the United States. Unlike Merlot, the other major component of Bordeaux wines, it is rarely bottled as a pure varietal.
The cost will be $30 for members and $35 for non-members.
Following this event, the wine tasting leaders will be going on vacation until October. So, if you have been procrastinating signing up for a wine tasting, this will be your last chance until the Fall.
Email wine-rsvp@neophilic.com to register for this tasting.
