Details:
Join us for the Hillside Club Fireside Presentation on Berkeley's Fire Prevention Initiatives, taking place on September 2026. This informative evening will begin with member social time at 6:30 p.m. and a Club business meeting at 7:00 p.m. The main event starts at 7:30 p.m., featuring a panel discussion chaired by Hillside Club member Marcus von Engel, a volunteer leader with the Berkeley FireSafe Council. The panel will include Berkeley Fire Chief David Sprague, Fire Chief Colin Arnold, and Berkeley District Six Councilmember Brent Blackaby. They will address wildfire safety principles and local initiatives aimed at reducing fire threats, including regulations from the new “EMBER” ordinance governing hillside homes. Ample time for audience questions will be provided. Refreshments and wine will be served after the presentation. This event is open to the public, free for members, with a suggested donation for non-members, and no one will be turned away for lack of funds. The Fireside Meetings are typically held on the first Monday of most months.
