Details:
Join us for the East Bay Square Dance featuring caller Nina Berry and guest fiddler Sophie Wellington, with live music by the Round Top Stringband. This welcoming and queer-friendly event encourages participation from everyone—no experience or partner is necessary, and kids are welcome!
The evening begins with doors opening at 7:30 pm, followed by a beginner lesson at 7:45 pm to get you ready for dancing. The main square dancing will take place from 8:00 to 10:00 pm. Dancers are encouraged to role-switch and will be referred to as "owls" and "birdies" for the two dance roles. Please wear dance shoes (no stiletto heels) and feel free to bring your own beverages—beer and wine are permitted, but no hard alcohol.
Ticket prices are $20 for general admission, $15 for Hillside Club or BACDS members, $25 for supporters, and $6 for students or low-income individuals, with a pay-what-you-can option available. Cash and Venmo payments are accepted at the door or you can purchase tickets via Eventbrite.
Prior to the dance, musicians can join a free old-time jam from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the small room by the front door. This event is organized by the Bay Area Country Dance Society (BACDS), and membership is open to anyone for future dances. The square dance is typically held on the third Friday of each month, though in August and September it moves to the fourth Friday.
Come enjoy a lively night of traditional square dancing with friends and family! For more details, visit [BACDS Square Dance Series](www.bacds.org/series/square/east-bay/) or check out [Rip and Snort](www.ripandsnort.com/) for additional events.
