Details:
Discover the whales, dolphins, seals and sea turtles that visit Delaware as presented by the MERR Institute, Delawares official marine animal stranding response organization. Participants will learn about the ecology of marine mammals and sea turtles and their role in Delawares coastal ecosystem. These enormous and fascinating creatures include whales, dolphins, seals, manatees and sea turtles. Learn about the largest animal on earth, the similarities and differences between land and marine mammals, and other fun facts, including the different species that beach goers might encounter on the beach or in the near shore waters. MERRs interactive exhibit includes whale bones, sea turtle shells, and other educational artifacts from stranded marine mammals and sea turtles. Children will learn how MERR rescues these animals when they become stranded, and what they can do to help to become good environmental stewards of the ocean. This program is best suited to ages 5-12, but all are welcome. Registration Required Reminder: If you cannot attend the program, please cancel at least 24 hours in advance so we can offer your spot to someone on the waitlist. Missing two programs without notice may result in a temporary suspension of registration privileges. See full policyhere.
