This July, we’re thrilled to welcome local artist Carrie Barrus to Cedar Bean’s Coffee Joint as our newest Artist of the Month!

Carrie is a New Jersey-based acrylic and collage artist whose work explores the beauty of nature through vibrant color and rich texture. Inspired by the magical and emotional pull of the natural world and our deep connection to the earth, she creates pieces that bring landscapes and organic elements to life.

One of the most fascinating things about Carrie’s work is her process. Instead of traditional brushes, she often paints with pallet knives and repurposed materials like zip ties, lids, bags, boxes, and other small pieces of plastic—giving new life to everyday “trash” and creating wonderfully unique textures and shapes.

Even more magical? Carrie rarely knows what the finished piece will become when she begins. Each painting is an act of discovery, guided by intuition, creativity, and a genuine love for whatever ultimately appears on the canvas.
