FREE ADMISSION WITH YOUR JOHNSON COUNTY LIBRARY CARD!
Explore unique stories of American life in a 1920s Kansas town with our special History Highlights Tour Series – and this month’s theme is SEGREGATED AMERICA: LIFE IN 1920S KANSAS!
150 years after America declared their independence and 60 years after the end of slavery, the nation still had a great deal of work ahead to achieve real equality. On this tour, we’ll explore life for different families in 1920s Shawnee – Black Americans, new immigrants, Catholics, indigenous Shawnee – they all worked to overcome challenges and help their children thrive, and our staff will help you explore the personal stories the Museum is researching! Tour starts July 25th promptly at 10:30am!
Tour is included with General Museum Admission (admission rates can be found on www.ShawneeTown.org/). FREE ADMISSION WITH A JOHNSON COUNTY LIBRARY CARD 10AM-12PM! Card sign-ups will also be available to all! Tours are designed for adults and kids 5th grade and higher. No RSVPs and space is first–come first–serve, so come early to claim your spot.
**Friends of Shawnee Town Members are entitled to FREE general admission (based on their Membership Level).
