Details:
Join us for an exciting and hands-on experience combining the fundamentals of both blacksmithing and coppersmithing. Over two dynamic days, participants will dive into blacksmithing techniques, including hammering, forging, heat treating, and forge welding, while crafting practical items such as a cold chisel, drift punch, bottle opener, and wall hook. Safety, tools, materials, and shop setup will be covered, giving students a solid foundation in blacksmithing skills.
In addition, you'll explore the art of coppersmithing with a beginner-friendly class focused on manipulating copper. Students will learn essential techniques such as deburring, annealing, and hammer control for texturing, as well as design layout and chasing using chisels. The course will also introduce silver soldering and low relief techniques, culminating in a patina finish to accentuate your designs. Participants will create four unique projects, including a coupon, pencil caddie, vase, and an eight-inch plate with a sunk center and low relief design.
Bring your creativity and project ideas as you explore these timeless crafts under the guidance of experienced instructors!
