Details:
Are you a visual artist with a desire to incorporate your own written words and language into your artworks? This course is for everyone interested in the intersection of arts—visual arts, book arts, and more—and language. We will focus on poetry, which offers diverse and flexible ways of engaging language as a visual, spatial, and embodied medium. Together, we will read and discuss poems and what we can bring from poetry into arts practices, write, and share works in progress in a supportive environment. Ann Marie Thornburg earned an MFA in Poetry from the University of Michigan Helen Zell Writers’ Program, and she is now a PhD student in the Program for Writers at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Her poetry is published in Boston Review, Michigan Quarterly Review, and elsewhere.
