Details:
Join us for a series of engaging art workshops and lectures this August, including a **3-Part Intro to Drawing Workshop** focused on observational still-life drawing. Participants will learn to create balanced compositions, measure objects accurately with a pencil, and identify negative and positive shapes within drawings. The workshop will take place on the following dates: Part 1: Composition on August 5, Part 2: Measuring on August 12, and Part 3: Negative Space on August 19. This class is free, but registration is recommended.
Additionally, don't miss our **"Art History Illustrated"** lecture series featuring art historian Brenda Edgar. On August 20, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, explore the rich tapestry of Mexican art, starting from pre-Columbian traditions, through the impact of Spanish colonization, to the works of modern artists like Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. This monthly illustrated talk series occurs every third Thursday and is designed for adults.
Both events will be held at the Cultural Arts Center, located at 201 East Spring Street, New Albany, IN. For more details, to register, or to let us know you're attending, please visit nafclibrary.libcal.com/.
