Details:
Samuel Barber’s The School for Scandal Overture and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 1 were both composed while their respective composers were still in college, while Haydn penned his Trumpet Concerto at the age of 64. How does the age and life experience of composers shape the sound of their music? In this session, we’ll look at works written in both the early and late stages of composers’ careers… and maybe a few midlife crisis pieces too!
