Details:
Join the Issaquah Alps Trails Club and WA State Parks on an invasive species removal event, where we’ll be working to eradicate European Holly on Squak Mountain. This friendly-appearing plant is actually a Class-C noxious weed, with its dense shrubbery stifling our Western WA native plants if left unchecked. Join Anne Newcomb, our restoration extraordinaire, and the knowledgeable Washington State Parks Cascade Foothills Park Ranger Ellen Moline in helping our native plants thrive.
We will be going off-trail to eradicate any holly we find, so closed-toe shoes are a must. We’ll also be carrying in any tools we need to successfully remove these species—feel free to bring gloves if you have them.
WHEN AND WHERE
Date: Thursday, July 16th
Time: 10 AM - 1 PM
Where: Squak Mountain Trail Parking at May Valley Loop Trailhead. Now that we have completed the lower hill, we’ll be carpooling up to the halfway point and working on the east side of the May Valley Loop Trail.
